Kolhapuri chappal making

Step into the world of Kolhapuri chappal making with our immersive workshop! Begin by selecting your leather and choosing a traditional or contemporary design, adding your unique style. Learn the art of stitching, where you assemble the sole and straps using time-honored techniques, guided by expert artisans. Finally, finish with polishing—adding shine and color that brings your handcrafted footwear to life. This hands-on experience celebrates the journey from raw materials to a beautifully crafted, wearable piece of Indian heritage, personalized by you at every step.

Story telling

Every Kolhapuri chappal carries a legacy—before making begins, the workshop starts with tales of its origins in rural Maharashtra and how royalty and artisans shaped its journey. Through storytelling, participants experience the pride, artistry, and community woven into each step of this age-old craft, connecting them to a heritage passed down through generations.

Choose your Style

Participants are then invited to personalize their journey by selecting the leather, patterns, and motifs that resonate with their own sense of style—whether classic, intricate braids, or vibrant contemporary twists. This stage brings out creativity and self-expression, making every pair uniquely theirs.

Stictch , paste and assemble

Guided by master artisans, everyone learns the meticulous art of stitching, pasting, and assembling the chappals. From precise hand-stitching to carefully joining sole and upper, this hands-on phase teaches the traditional skills and patient craftsmanship that give Kolhapuri chappals their iconic durability and comfort.

Polish and pack

Finally, participants add finishing touches—polishing the leather to a rich shine and optionally adding embellishments. Each handmade pair is then beautifully packed, ready to carry home as a wearable piece of art and cultural heritage, crafted entirely by their own hands.
